What will you do?

As the Health and Safety Officer, you will perform high-level complex analytical work in support of the Leave Policy, Medical Management, and Health and Safety responsibilities of the office.  In this role you will be responsible for administering the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL) programs and serve as the Return-to-Work Coordinator, Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator, and Wellness Coordinator. You will exercise a high degree of initiative and independent judgment when researching and analyzing personnel problems and issues, identifying alternatives, and recommending and/or implementing solutions.  Specifically, you will:

  • You have experience with Reasonable Accommodation, FMLA/CFRA, State Disability Insurance benefits, and Workers’ Compensation laws, rules, and statutes.
  • You have experience working in health and safety related areas of human resources.
  • You have a strong background in transactions and working in the SCO system.
  • You have strong analytical skills and the ability to explain complex information in a way that is easily understood.
  • You have the ability to develop strong working relationships and interact with all levels of staff and stakeholders in a customer service focused manner.
  • You have experience developing human resources policies and providing consultation on a variety of human resources-related topics.
  • You have experience having difficult conversations requiring diplomacy and tact.
  • You have the ability to work under pressure on multiple projects with short deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • You have the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
