Recommendation #1 To: Judicial Council of California

The Judicial Council should update its judicial contracting manual to include the required minimum fuel economy standards for the judicial branch's vehicle purchases.

Annual Follow-Up Agency Response From June 2016

The Judicial Council at its June 24, 2016 meeting approved the update to the Judicial Branch Contracting Manual with an effective date of July 1, 2016. The revisions to the manual included the required minimum fuel economy standards for the judicial branch's vehicle purchases.

The Judicial Council agenda and its attached updated Judicial Branch Contracting Manual are located on the California Courts Web site.

California State Auditor's Assessment of Annual Follow-Up Status: Fully Implemented

We confirmed that the appropriate language has been added to the Judicial Branch Contracting Manual, as indicated above.


6-Month Agency Response

The updated Judicial Branch Contracting Manual continues to be on track for Judicial Council approval at its June 23-24, 2016 meeting with an effective date of July 1, 2016. The updated manual will include a reference to the required minimum fuel economy standards for vehicle purchases.

60-Day Agency Response

Response is the same as reported to the State Auditor on November 19, 2015,and included in the audit report. The Judicial Branch Contracting Manual is expected to be updated for this requirement with an effective date of July 1, 2016.
